Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 June 2026

BOWSER is built to need as little of your data as possible. There is no account, no sign-up, and no login. This policy explains what the app uses, why, and who it's shared with.

Who we are

BOWSER ("the app", "we", "us") is a mobile app for finding cheap fuel in Australia. For any privacy question, contact us at support.somaco@gmail.com.

The short version

Information the app uses

Location

With your permission, the app uses your device's precise location while the app is open ("when in use") to: suggest fuel stations and cameras near you, set the default starting point for a trip, and calculate routes. Location is processed to fulfil your request and is not saved to a profile or linked to your identity. To do this, your location or the places you search are sent to the service providers listed below (for example, to convert an address to coordinates or to compute a driving route). You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the app still works, you'll just need to type locations manually.

Advertising (free version)

If you use the free version, the app displays ads via Google AdMob. To serve these ads, Google may collect and process device information such as your approximate (coarse) location, IP address, device identifiers, and ad-interaction data. BOWSER does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising: the app does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not use your device's advertising identifier to link your activity to your identity. Ads are contextual (non-personalized) rather than targeted through cross-app tracking. BOWSER+ subscribers see no ads, and no ad requests are made for them.

Subscriptions & purchases

BOWSER+ purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat, which keeps your subscription status in sync across your devices. RevenueCat assigns a random, anonymous app-user ID and records purchase events (which plan, trial status, renewal/expiry). We and RevenueCat never receive your credit-card number or full payment details: those stay with Apple/Google.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules local reminders on your device, for example when fuel prices in your area hit the bottom of their cycle, or three days before a free trial ends. These are generated on your device; we don't run a server that pushes messages to you.

Data stored on your device

Your preferences (fuel type, vehicle, saved trips, display name, settings) are stored locally on your device only. They are not uploaded to us. Deleting the app, or using "Reset app" in Settings, clears this data.

Fuel, traffic & map data we read

The app reads public fuel-price, traffic, camera, weather, and map data from the providers below. Requests to them may include your approximate location or the area you're viewing so they can return relevant results:

Who we share data with

We don't sell your personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers above, strictly to make the app work (serving ads, processing subscriptions, geocoding, routing, and fetching fuel/traffic/weather data). Each operates under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Children

BOWSER is not directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
